To John Calvert & the gang at Calvert Racing " Kudo's" to an awesome suspension package.... Here's my picture of my 1969 Pontiac Firebird from Super Chevy 2003 at Maple Grove PA. The car has a 427 BBC pump Gas N/A. Before upgrading to the (Caltrac Suspension Package) the car was running slapper bars for the 2001-2002 seasons and was running Et's anywhere between 11.19 thru 11:40's at 118 MPH. The 60 ft's were all over the place from 1.6's to 1.72 depending on the track conditions and tires.

My good friend Scott who has a beautiful 69 Camaro street car and happens to be one of John's original customers . His Camaro has a mild BBC, runs on pump gas with factory Multileafs with Caltracs and 16 rims with ET street tires, and the car is driven everywhere, He runs high 11's at 115 with a 1.59 60ft. I was convinced that Caltracs were the way to go. So this past April 2003 the updates began. I called Calvert Racing and there Staff is second to none "Travis" who helped me was awesome. Travis set me up with the entire package, Split monoleaf, caltracs, front 90/10's and rear adjustable shocks. John also provided the additional information on which Moroso trick springs to order for the front and the car was now lowered a full inch all around, That was also the best thing because I told Travis I wanted the back of the car a inch lower than stock and I could order the mono leaf any way I wanted. I was now all setup and ready to go racing........

I installed the system with easy right out of the box. June I final got the car to the track. Now keep in mind my tires were shot from last season but I just couldn't wait for new ones. First pass of the trailer the car went 11.00 at 122 MPH with a 1.65 60', Next pass with a longer burnout since thetires have seen better day's, the car went 10.99 123.00 1.61 60' , Third pass 10.91 123.00 with a 1.60 60'. Keep in mind Tires shot, had the bars on bottom hole and adjusted out of box only . Track was closing and three passes was the max. Track temp well over 90 degrees and temp 90 and Humid. I than called John and explained how the car reacted the first time out and the tuning began.

My next event and only second time out was Super chevy 2003 Maple Grove PA, which is the picture above. With the just preload adjustment and a turn of the rear shock adjustments and new tires 28.11.5 ET streets the car went 10.83 123 Mph with a 1.56 60' . ( John called me from California 9:00am while I was at the track in PA 12:00 pm to assist in my adjustments) NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since this was an event I only got two time Shot's and didn't want to change much at that time. The second time shot the car went 10.80 123 mph 1.55 60'. Track temp well over 100 degrees and temp 90 and Humid. John said the car should be in the 1.4's and he was not happy " I was like what!!! I'm happy.... I laughed , Now that's support ....... John , Travis Thanks so much for a great product and continued support. You've made my summer a blast and the cars working unbelievable....... You definitely set the tone. No Ladder bar's here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be talking to you soon for some more tips.
Cheers More updates will follow.......
